A Moment of Reflection
Jan 5, 2026
A messsage from Aktiga CEO and Founder Shane Parreco about the beginning of a new year and thoughts about the road ahead.
As one year wraps up and another begins, I'd like to take a beat. Not a full stop… more like pulling over at a scenic overlook, stretching our legs, and noticing how far we've come before getting back on the road.
The past year at Aktiga has been one of quiet but meaningful change. Not dramatic pivots or flashy announcements, but steady evolution in how we work, what we say yes to, and how we show up for the people who trust us with their ideas.
Growing with More Intention
Over the last year, we became much more focused on what we do best: helping people make good decisions early.
That’s meant leaning much more into design, research, and thoughtful discovery. Spending more time asking the right questions before writing a single line of code. Helping teams slow down just enough to avoid building the wrong thing fast.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s clarity.
We want founders, product teams, and organizations to walk away from working with us feeling more confident about what they’re building, why they’re building it, and what not to build yet. In a world that rewards speed above all else, we’re intentionally creating space for collaboratively figuring out what the best next step really should be.
The Asheville Tech Ecosystem, Up Close
Working from Asheville gives us a front-row seat to a slowly budding tech ecosystem that’s still finding its shape. There’s an incredible amount of creativity and talented folks that live here… and there are still very real gaps in capital, mentorship, and needed connective tissue.
We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But we do believe that strong ecosystems are built through participation, not commentary.
For us, that means supporting local founders, collaborating with other small teams, sharing what we’re learning, and building products and services that can grow from right here rather than being extracted or exported elsewhere. We’re playing the long game, even when that means slower growth or harder choices in the short term.
Learning While Building
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been continuing to invest in our own products, especially Agenda Keeper. Much of that work isn’t immediately visible, but it matters. Strengthening foundations. Simplifying the overall architecture and making core systems more robust and reliable. And making space for better collaboration and follow-through for meetings that matter.
That same philosophy applies to Aktiga itself. We’re refining how we work together, how we scope projects, and how we communicate… not because something was broken, but because we want it to be healthier as it grows.
Why We’re Excited About What’s Next
What makes me most optimistic about the year ahead isn’t a specific feature or service offering. It’s the alignment we’re feeling.
We’re clearer about who we’re here to help. We’re more honest about what we’re good at. And we’re increasingly comfortable saying no to work that doesn’t fit, so we can do better work where it does.
If you’re building something new, rethinking something old, or just trying to make sense of what’s next, we’re always happy to be a sounding board. Sometimes progress starts with a good conversation.
Thanks for following along, supporting our work, and being part of this journey with us. We’re excited to keep building… thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with care.
Here’s to the year ahead!
